			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dallas Area Pharmacy Association (DAPA) offers annual scholarships to Dallas Area students pursuing a career in pharmacy at an accredited school or college of pharmacy in Texas.</p>

<p>The 2012 award will be a $250 scholarship.</p>
<p>General criteria for this scholarship (see the scholarship application for specific information):</p>
<ul>
<li>Must be a resident (permanent address) of Dallas, Collin, Cook, Grayson or Rockwall County</li>
<li>Must be entering 2<sup>nd</sup>, 3<sup>rd</sup>, or 4<sup>th</sup> (P2, P3, or P4) professional years in the Fall 2012</li>
<li>Have GPA <span style="text-decoration: underline;">&gt;</span> 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 in required courses</li>
<li>Be student member of Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA).</li>
</ul>
<p>Students will be judged on scholarship, need and the potential to become a leader for Texas pharmacy, as demonstrated by involvement in pharmacy school and community activities.</p>
<p>Each applicant must provide:</p>
<p>1. Completed scholarship application</p>
<p>2. Current resume CV</p>
<p>3. One-page essay on why the scholarship is needed, how the funds are to be used, and what their future goals are as a pharmacist.</p>
<p>4. Letter of recommendation from a pharmacist member of TPA.</p>
<p>5. FERPA form authorizing Dr. Birtcher to provide your GPA to the Texas Pharmacy Foundation</p>
<p>Turn in the completed paperwork to Scott Parker, on the Main Campus, or Dr. Birtcher on the TMC campus <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">by Thursday, May 24</span></strong><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">, 2012, at 12 noon (no exceptions)</span></strong><strong>.</strong></p>
<p>The Student Affairs Scholarship Committee, with the assistance of the Drs. Simpson and Wallace, will select three applications to send to the Texas Pharmacy Foundation for consideration.</p>

The journey begins here&#8230;.by signing up to be an officer for the UH COP chapter of APhA-ASP!</span></p>
<p>All applicants running for an executive position should prepare a short speech (up to 3 minutes for President-Elect, 2 minutes for other positions) to be given in front of the chapter at our meeting, April 9th, 2012.</p>
<p>Candidates for Patient Care Initiative Officers, IPSF, SPAN, etc. will be interviewed and selected by the President, Rachel Harvey, and the newly elected President-Elect. Patient Initiative/Committee Chairs MUST fill out an application AND sign up for an interview slot on April 11th -12th on the google doc below. Interviews will last approximately 15 minutes, please come prepared to discuss your ideas for the year! If applying for an Executive Officer position as well as a Committee Chair position, one application will suffice but must be turned in by the Executive Officer application deadline below.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Applications for Executive Officer positions will be due by 5pm on Saturday, April 7th 2012.   Applications for Committee Chair positions will be due by 5pm on Tuesday, April 10th 2012.   If applying for multiple positions, one application will suffice.</strong></span></span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The 2011 TPA Conference and Expo are only a few months away! This year’s conference will be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center and Omni Fort Worth Hotel.  The Student conference rate is $125.00 before June 10<sup>th</sup> and $175.00 after June 10<sup>th</sup>. The conference rate includes all meal functions, Opening Night Party and the President Reception/ Gala.</p>
